Mumbai, May 17 -- Students from Maharashtra, who have been admitted to post-graduation (PG) medical and dental courses under the allIndia quota (AIQ), won't be able to seek admission in the state quota.

In a recent letter to the state director, medical education and research (DMER), the Centre's Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said the aspirants can't resign from the seats allotted to them in the first and second rounds of admissions conducted by the Centre for AIQ seats, making these students ineligible for admission on statequota seats. With AIQ candidates out of contention, the other candidates will face less competition for the limited state quota seats.
