Stir abates, Noida returns to normalcy
India, April 16 -- Industrial units in Noida Phase-2 largely resumed operations on Wednesday, after two days of violence related to protests over a wage hike, with police and administration reporting only scattered demonstrations that were swiftly contained. "The situation is under control, and industrial activity is returning to normal," said Suyash Pandey, assistant labour commissioner, GB Nagar. Officials and workers said operations resumed across a range of units, including electronics, apparel and toy manufacturing clusters, which had seen partial disruption earlier. ADM (finance and revenue) Atul Kumar said, "A foot march was organised in a labour colony in Sector 84 to maintain law and order, while ADM (land acquisition) engaged with workers in Sector 63, urging them to resume work peacefully..."HTC...
