Mumbai, Nov. 27 -- The Maharashtra government on Wednesday issued nine separate orders to approve a soft loan of Rs.522 crore for the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) to implement nine different metro rail projects. MMRDA is executing multiple metro corridors in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, including areas like Thane, Kalyan, Mira Road, Dahisar, Bhiwandi, Taloja and Navi Mumbai. As part of financial assistance for these projects, the Maharashtra government had decided to give a soft loan-typically at a below-market interest rate and with longer repayment periods-to the agency. Accordingly, on Wednesday, the state urban development department issued nine government resolutions (GR) to approve the fund allocations: Rs.52.38 crore for Metro 5 (Thane-Kalyan-Bhiwandi), Rs.32.95 crore for Metro 6 (Swami Samarth Nagar-Jogeshwari-Vikhroli), Rs.28.79 crore for Metro 2A (Dahisar-DN Nagar), Rs.112.8 crore for Metro 2B (DN Nagar-Mandale), Rs.91.72 crore for Metro 4 (Wadala-Kasarvadavli) and Metro 4A (Kasarvadavali-Gaimukh), Rs.49.63 crore for Metro 7 (Andheri East to Dahisar East), Rs.66.71 crore for Metro 9 (Dahisar-Mira Bhayandar) and Metro 7A (Andheri East-Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport), Rs.86.14 crore for Metro 10 (Gaimukh-Mira Road) and Rs.1.08 crore for Metro 12 (Kalyan-Taloja)....
