State announces Rs.2.25 crore prize for 3 Maha champions
MUMBAI, Nov. 5 -- Following the Indian women's victory in the ICC Women's World Cup, the state government has decided to award Rs.2.25 crore each to the three players from Maharashtra - Smriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodrigues and Radha Yadav. The Indian team beat South Africa in the final at DY Patil stadium on Sunday night.
In a statement issued by the Chief Minister's Office on Tuesday, the state cabinet congratulated the Indian team, who won the title for the first time ever.
An official from the state sports department said the prize money had been fixed by a GR issued in October 2024.
Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis told the media on Tuesday, "Three countries had cornered the trophy for the last 25 years and we have won it for the first time. The state cabinet congratulates all of them. We have decided to give prizes to Mandhana, Rodrigues and Yadav, who are from Maharashtra. We will felicitate all of them when the entire team is in Mumbai."...
