Navi Mumbai, June 5 -- A 26-year-old food delivery rider died after being hit by a truck which drove through a no-entry zone in Vashi on June 3. The police are looking through CCTV footage to trace the driver who fled the scene. According to the police, the food delivery rider, Tulsi Kumar Ramchandra, had recently shifted from Vashi Gaon to Uran, and was en route to pick up an early morning order at around 2am. The police said that although the road was relatively empty, it had been raining, and a speeding truck violated traffic regulations and hit him while driving through the Blue Diamond Chowk to Kopargaon Signal route, a stretch where heavy vehicles are not permitted. "The vehicle hit the two-wheeler, causing the rider to sustain fatal injuries, particularly to his pelvic region," a police officer said. Locals alerted the police, and he was transported to a hospital in an autorickshaw. Although he was conscious when he reached, he succumbed to his injuries soon afterwards. The police have registered a case under section 106(1) (death by negligence), section 281 (rash driving), section 324(4) (mischief) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and sections 184 (dangerous driving) and sections 134 (A) (B) (duties of the driver in case of accident) of the Motor Vehicles Act. In another accident in Navi Mumbai, an unidentified elderly male pedestrian died after being hit by a speeding vehicle in Panvel on June 4.
