MUMBAI, Jan. 1 -- After its recent alliance with Congress for the BMC elections, Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi (VBA) chief Prakash Ambedkar blamed the "sleeper cells" in the party, working against it, which prevented the pact between the two in the past. The present alliance was forged, said Ambedkar, following talks with Maharashtra Congress president Harshwardhan Sapkal, who "took care of the sleeper cells". Ambedkar also said that in the BJP-Shiv Sena combine, deputy chief minister Eknath Shinde started dictating the terms, evidenced by the BJP accepting his proposal of contesting 90 seats for the BMC, because of the VBA-Congress alliance.
