singer zubeen dies at 52 on a yacht trip in Singapore
Guwahati, Sept. 20 -- Singer-songwriter Zubeen Garg died on Friday while on a yacht trip in Singapore where he was supposed to perform a day later, people privy to the development said. He was 52.
"Shocked by the sudden demise of popular singer Zubeen Garg. He will be remembered for his rich contribution to music. His renditions were very popular among people across all walks of life. Condolences to his family and admirers. Om Shanti," Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote on X.
The composer from Assam was to take part in the Northeast Festival in Singapore, showcasing the region's culture and music. Garg is survived by his wife, Garrima Saikia Garg.
According to organisers of the event and those close to him, the singer was on a yacht with some acquaintances and was swimming when he complained of breathlessness and had a seizure. He was given CPR, taken to Singapore General Hospital (SGH) and kept there in ICU but the doctors couldn't revive him....
