Thane, May 16 -- To ensure commuters have a safe journey, a shopkeeper near Vandana bus depot decided to take matters into his own hands.
Mansukh Hirn, 44, stuck reflective tape on a speed bump at the end of Almeida junction flyover. He said growing number of minor accidents, which occurred as motorists could not spot the speed breaker in time, pushed him to initiate action.
Hirn said the number of accidents has reduced as motorists can now spot the speed bump from a distance.
The Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) opened the Almeida junction flyover to public last year. To prevent motorists from speeding down the flyover, the authorities constructed a speed bump at the end of the flyover - towards the Teen petrol pump side.
