New Delhi, June 8 -- Union home minister Amit Shah on Saturday met senior officers of the Chhattisgarh police who were part of the recent anti-Maoist operations in which top Maoist leader Nambala Keshava Rao alias Basavaraju was killed, along with 26 other cadres in a gunfight. Shah told the officers that he would visit Chhattisgarh again to meet the jawans who were part of the operation. After the meeting in Delhi, Shah took to X and wrote, "Met the officers who played a crucial role in the recent anti-Naxal operations and congratulated them on the historic success of these operations. I am eager to meet the brave jawans who made these operations successful with their courage and will soon visit Chhattisgarh to meet them. The Modi government is committed to freeing India from the menace of Naxalism." Last month, during an anti-Maoist operation, carried out by the Chhattisgarh Police (including district reserve guard units from Narayanpur, Dantewada, Kondagaon, and Bijapur districts) in the interior areas of Abujhmad from May 18 to May 21, general secretary of the Maoist party, Basavaraju, was among the 27 killed in the gunfight. Also On Friday, Chhattisgarh CM Vishnu Deo Sai met PM Narendra Modi and Shah in two separate meetings during which he shared the details of the ongoing Maoist operations and development projects in the state. During his meeting with the PM, the CM sought the Centre's approval for two major irrigation projects aimed at transforming the Bastar region - Bodhghat Multipurpose Irrigation Project and Indravati-Mahanadi Interlinking Project. The two projects entail an estimated investment of Rs.49,000 crore. "I shared with the PM the changing landscape of Chhattisgarh and the urgent need to strengthen irrigation infrastructure in Bastar," the CM said....
