Bengaluru, May 7 -- India's apex court has, for the first time, officially disclosed the caste and religion of each person recommended for appointment as high court judges by the Supreme Court Collegium between November 2022 and April 2025, along with their relation to sitting or retired high court or Supreme Court judges. Of the total 221 recommendations, 167 (75.57%) are from the general (non-SC-ST-OBC) category, showed the data. The number of appointees from the OBC category stands at 39 (17.65%).
