SC lets Wangchuk's wife amend petition
India, Oct. 16 -- The Supreme Court on Wednesday allowed activist Sonam Wangchuk's wife, Gitanjali Angmo, to amend her petition after she expressed her intention to challenge the grounds of detention cited by the Ladakh administration to justify her husband's arrest under the NSA last month. The bench permitted Angmo's counsel, senior advocate Kapil Sibal, to amend her plea so it could address the government's explanation for the detention. Meanwhile, authorities lifted the restrictions in Leh district of Ladakh, 22 days after they were imposed following violence during the statehood protests that left four people dead and over 80 others injured.
