MUMBAI, Dec. 3 -- A 67-year-old retired police officer was arrested and booked under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act on Tuesday for sexually assaulting a nine-year-old girl from his neighbourhood. According to the Kasturba Marg police the FIR was registered based on a complaint by the child's mother. The police said that the incident took place on Sunday. The 33-year-old mother of the girl lives with her family in Borivali and the accused, who is a retired police officer, lives in the same building. The FIR stated that around 6:00 pm on Sunday, the nine-year-old girl was standing near the elevator when the accused forcibly pulled her in, touched her inappropriately and kissed her on the cheek. The child's mother told the police that when the girl returned home, she told her mother about the incident. The mother then immediately approached the Kasturba Marg police station and filed a complaint.
