Reagan, Sampada win state TT titles
Mumbai, July 20 -- Raegan Albuquerque and Sampada Bhiwandkar clinched the men's and women's crowns respectively in the Maharashtra State Prize-Money Table Tennis Tournament held at the Khar Gymkhana on Saturday.
The tournament was organised under the aegis of the Maharahstra State Table Tennis Association (MSTTA).
Armed with an aggressive playing style, top seed Albuquerque scored a comprehensive 11-7, 11-4, 11-5, 11-7 win over Mandar Hardikar in the final. Both players were representing The Suburban Table Tennis Association (TSTTA).
Coincidentally, both women's finalists were also playing for TSTTA, as second seed Bhiwandkar picked up an 11-8, 11-4, 11-8, 11-7 win over Kheya Shah, who had upset top seed Shweta Nayak in the semi-final.
In the junior sections, Sukrati Sharma of Thane picked up the title in both the Under-17 and Under-19 girls sections. She beat TSTTA's Ayushi Shirgaonkar 11-6, 12-10, 11-2 in Under-17 division, and picked up an 11-8, 13-11, 11-7, 6-11, 11-5 win over Mumbai City's Arpita Borhade.
Meanwhile top seed Akanksh Sahoo beat TSTTA teammate Ahan Gosar 12-10, 11-6, 11-5 in the junior boys Under-17 final.
Arnav Kshirsagar, the top seed in the boys Under-19 event beat TSTTA teammate Ayush Sonawane 11-8, 11-9, 13-15, 12-10, 11-7 in the final....
