Pune, Oct. 30 -- Congress and Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday spoke to the victim's mother and other members of the family over phone and assured them of justice. "The Congress party will exert pressure on the government to ensure justice for the deceased doctor," he said. Gandhi also sought complete details of the case from the victim's family and from state Congress president Harshvardhan Sapkal. Sapkal met the doctor's family in Kavdagav, Beed, and demanded the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) under a high court judge. He also called for immediate arrest of former BJP MP Ranjitsinh Naik Nimbalkar. Sapkal criticised chief minister Devendra Fadnavis for giving Naik Nimbalkar a "clean chit" before the probe began. He slammed the state women's commission for siding with the police instead of supporting the victim's family.
