Mumbai, July 31 -- The average delay of long-distance trains on the Indian Railways network saw a marginal hike in the first six months of 2025 compared to the previous year, from 35.75 minutes in 2024 to 36.63 minutes this year until June. Additional pressure on high-density routes owing to the Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj contributed to the increased delay, according to railway officials. Long-distance trains in Maharashtra saw a slight improvement in punctuality, as delays dropped from 49 minutes in 2024 to 40 minutes till June this year, according to data compiled by RailYatri - a train information and booking platform that offers information on real-time train status, PNR status, seat availability....
