Mumbai, Dec. 9 -- The Bombay High Court has directed the municipal commissioner to probe how a Govandi-based hospital obtained its registration certificate, after observing that both the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) and the hospital misled the bench. Hearing a 2015 petition, the court noted that neither side disclosed full facts. On February 17, BMC counsel Vrushali Raje said Millennium Hospital had been fined thrice for operating without registration but continued functioning as the civic body lacked powers to seal it. The same day, the hospital's lawyer produced a registration certificate, which the BMC claimed it had never seen. An affidavit by BMC later claimed the certificate was genuine and delayed due to "miscommunication". The court rejected this, citing inconsistencies.
