Post mortem done, relative claims body
Mumbai, Nov. 1 -- Rohit Aarrya's body lay at the JJ Hospital mortuary in south Mumbai for the entire day on Friday as procedural formalities delayed the post mortem. It was only after his brother-in-law arrived at 6.45pm to give his statement to the Mumbai police crime branch and formally claim the body that the procedure began.
The post mortem was conducted under the supervision of Dr Bhalchandra Chikalkar, head of JJ Hospital's forensic department. It lasted for nearly three hours and concluded around 9.50pm, officials said. Around 10pm, the body was placed in an ambulance to be taken to his family, accompanied by his brother-in-law and police officers.
A senior JJ Hospital official told HT that the final post-mortem report would be submitted directly to the police. htc...
