MUMBAI, Sept. 22 -- The Hindu Hridaysamrat Balasaheb Thackeray Trauma Hospital in Jogeshwari, Mumbai's largest trauma care facility, is caught in a deepening crisis as nine of its doctors have been working without contracts since September 5. The doctors' one-year agreements expired on August 24 and they were abruptly told not to report for duty from August 25. "We stopped working from August 29. Without us, services collapsed," said a staffer, requesting anonymity. The absence of senior consultants threw essential services into disarray.
