Parsee Gym win Purushottam final
Mumbai, Dec. 22 -- Jay Jain (83), Harsh Aghav (80) and Mumbai Ranji batter Angkrish Raghuvanshi (54) scored half-centuries to help Parsee Gymkhana beat Victory Cricket Club by four wickets after chasing the 307-run target in the final of the Purushottam Shield cricket tournament on Sunday.
Brief scores: Victory CC 306/6 (Suryansh Shedge 97, Manan Bhat 61, Suved Parkar 58, Jay Bista 30) lost to Parsee Gymkhana 308/6 (Jay Jain 83, Harsh Aghav 80, Angkrish Raghuvanshi 54).
Top seeds Joshna Chinappa and Veer Chotrani emerged champions in the women's and men's categories, respectively, in the 80th CCI Western India Squash Tournament at the CCI courts on Sunday.
In the women's final, Chinappa came from behind to beat second seed Sanya Vats 7-11, 11-8, 11-8, 11-5. The men's final, however, was a far more one-sided affair, with Chotrani cruising to a 11-9, 11-9, 11-2 win over Suraj Chand.
Tanish Mehra scored a blistering 159 off 114, with 18 boundaries and six sixes, to help Mumbai Police Gymkhana register a 102-run win over Young Comrade CC in their first round Padmakar Talim Shield match.
Young Comrade's Manan Khakhar scored 140 off 63.
