Mumbai, Nov. 16 -- The exclusion of Sarfaraz Khan from the Indian Test setup has continued to raise a few eyebrows, but the prolific Mumbai batter said he is not getting bogged down by frustration even after a quiet start to the ongoing Ranji Trophy season. Sarfaraz had broken the door to the Indian Test team last year on the back of consistent runs in the domestic circuit. But the middle-order batter was sidelined from the playing XI after India's whitewash by New Zealand at home, despite scoring 150 in the first Test in Bengaluru. Sarfaraz has remained out of favour with the Indian team management. And, compared to his big numbers in the previous seasons, he has also had a quiet start to this Ranji season, scoring only 111 runs in four matches without a single half-century. The Mumbai batter, though, is far from being perturbed. "There is no frustration at all," Sarfaraz told reporters ahead of Mumbai's home clash against Puducherry at the Wankhede Stadium from Sunday. "If you look at my record, I have scored a lot of runs. People have one season in four years where they make a thousand runs, but maine chaar-paanch saal daba ke runs banaye hain (I have scored plenty of runs for the last 4-5 years)," he added. Sarfaraz had piled on 556 runs in six matches (avg 92.66) in the 2022-23 season, 982 runs in six matches (122.75) in the season prior to that and 928 runs in six matches (154.66) in the 2019-20 season. After getting starts in Mumbai's season opener against Jammu and Kashmir (42 & 32), Sarfaraz has had scores of 1, 15, 5* and 16 in the four innings since. The sidelined India batter believes he does not need to change anything in order to find his peak form this season. "I do not think I need to change anything because I am doing good. I have always played a lot of balls and even now I try to practice as much as I can," said Sarfaraz. "One cannot score runs in every single match. The past four seasons went well and sometimes, a batter loses his wicket despite playing well. But we can always get back to scoring runs," he added....
