Mumbai, June 13 -- Ahead of the state Assembly polls, senior Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and leader of Opposition in the council Dhananjay Munde is facing serious allegations of illegal purchase of state government land. The Aurangabad bench of the Bombay high court (HC) on Tuesday directed the police to register a case against him and 15 others, including his wife Rajshri, in the matter.

Munde has refuted all allegations and claimed they are politically motivated. He said he plans to file an appeal in the Supreme Court. "The purchase was as per the rules.
