Mumbai T20 great platform: Nayar
Mumbai, June 1 -- With the T20 Mumbai League starting in a couple of days, it's exciting time for local cricketers. The tournament, will be played from June 4-12, with the likes India T20 team captain Suryakumar Yadav, Punjab Kings captain Shreyas Iyer and Chennai Super Kings all-rounder Shivam Dube in action.
"I think this can only do good when it comes to cricket in Mumbai and also a great platform for IPL teams to scout (for players)," said Abhishek Nayar, the mentor of Mumbai South Central Maratha Warriors.
"What IPL did for Indian cricket, I think Mumbai T20 will do for Mumbai cricketers."
Nayar, who was India's assistant coach during the ICC Champions Trophy title run, said it was natural for some of the players to feel overawed when up against players like Surya and Shreyas.
"May be the first year may be hard but the second year they'll get used to it (playing against big names). The third year we'll pick the cup. You have to be okay with the evolution.
"Winning is always the forefront of it. But I'm also very reasonable (in expectations) because you get very less time to prepare a team."
The Mumbai Wheelchair cricket team was visited by former South African cricketer AB de Villiers during their practice session at Islam Gymkhana, Marine Lines, on Saturday.
De Villiers interacted with the players, lauding their spirit, grit, and determination.
"These players are an inspiration. Sports should be for everyone, and it's time we extend greater support to wheelchair cricket and promote inclusion and equality through the game," said de Villiers....
