Mumbai's Kiaan wins Round 3 at National Karting event
Chennai, Sept. 2 -- Fourteen-year-old Kiaan Shah from Mumbai earned his first national-level victory in Round 3 of the Meco FMSCI National Karting Championship. Competing for Team Rayo Racing, Kiaan's domination over the entire weekend, held at the Madras International Karting Arena (MIKA), helped secure a win in the finals of the Junior Rotax category.
Kiaan's bagged the pole position (fastest) in Qualifying with a lap time of 50.530 seconds. In the final, he again made a good start from pole. The Mumbai lad quickly opened up a gap. When pushed by other drivers, Kiaan defended well, and held his ground to earn his first overall victory at the National level. Rishik Reddy and Eshanth Vengatesan were second and third.
Bimal Ghosh-coached ICL Mumbai football club will be conducting trials from September 5 for the upcoming season at the Wings Sports Centre, near Lilavati Hospital, Bandra (West). ICL Mumbai will play in the Harwood League, Mumbai Elite League and Nadkarni Cup. Only Elite Division players can appear for the trials. Reporting time is 6:30 am. SAI's National Centre of Excellence, Mumbai, will conduct wrestling selection trials on September 3 and 4 (reporting time 8 am), at its centre in Kandivali (East). Wrestlers placed up to fifth in National Championships or National Ranking Tournaments, or who won gold at recognised state championships in the last two years, are eligible.
