MUMBAI, July 9 -- A 26-year-old man was booked on Monday for allegedly attempting to kill his 22-year-old fiancee by attacking her with a blade for cancelling the wedding. The victim, whose name was not revealed, works as a salesgirl in a cloth store in Dharavi. She told the police that she was in a relationship with the accused, Abdul Shaikh, for nine years until recently when she learnt that he started consuming drugs. According to the police, the incident occurred on Monday when Shaikh suspected she was talking to another man and went to the shop to confront her. "In a fit of rage, he pulled out a blade from his pocket and tried to slit her throat. The blade slashed her cheek as she resisted," the police said and added that Shaikh fled the spot when passersby were gathering to see what was happening. Police are trying to trace him.Vinay Dalvi...
