Mumbai, March 13 -- A 25-year-old man, the son of a housing society chairman in Andheri East, has been booked on Wednesday for allegedly posting a CCTV video of a woman kissing a man inside a lift on social media to defame her. The complainant, a 35-year-old resident of the society, claimed the video led to gossip and humiliation in the building. The incident occurred in January 2026 when she was in the building's lift and was seen kissing a man. On March 9, she allegedly overheard people discussing the video while returning from a nearby vegetable market. She later learnt the CCTV video had circulated on social media. The woman alleged that the society chairman maintains a backup of the CCTV cameras but his son manages the footage due to the chairman's lack of technical knowledge. She suspects that he accessed the recording and uploaded the clip. Based on her complaint, the Sakinaka police have registered a case under relevant provisions of the Information Technology Act.
