Maha teen Sharvari captures world youth recurve gold medal
Mumbai, Aug. 25 -- India's Sharvari Shende, who is from Maharashtra, won the individual recurve gold at the World Archery Youth Championships, beating South Korea's Kim Yewon 6-5 in a shootoff in the U-18 women's final in Winnipeg, Canada.
The 16-year-old, who trains in Pune, also got past another Korean, Kim Minjeong, in the semi-final (7-3). In the final, Sharvari was leading 5-1 before Yewon made it 5-5 after five sets. In the shootoff the Indian shot 10 to the Korean's 9.
Bengal opener Aditya Purohit completed his century against Mumbai on the final day as the second-round match in the Buchi Babu tournament ended in a draw in Chennai.
On the final day of the rain-interrupted encounter on Sunday, Purohit got to 122 as Bengal notched up 325/5. Mumbai were bowled out for 266.
