MUMBAI, June 9 -- Maharashtra reported 77 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday, taking the total number of infections recorded in the state since January 1 to 1,439, according to the state health department. Of the fresh cases, Pune accounted for the highest share with 41 infections, followed by Mumbai (25), Kolhapur (6), Navi Mumbai (4), and Nagpur (1). Mumbai alone has reported 665 cases so far this year, including 659 in the month of May, a health department official said.
