Mumbai, Aug. 12 -- The Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) remains "hopeful" that Chinnaswamy stadium will get the permission to host the scheduled matches of the upcoming ICC women's ODI World Cup. The Bengaluru stadium is slated to host a possible five matches of the World Cup including the tournament opener on September 30, one semi-final and the final (if Pakistan doesn't make it). "We remain hopeful and continue to wait," KSCA president Raghuram Bhatt said. Earlier, KSCA's Maharaja Twenty20 matches had to be shifted to Mysuru after they failed to obtain permission from Bengaluru police to host matches. The Chinnaswamy stadium has been in the eye of a storm after 11 people were killed at its premises during Royal Challengers Bengaluru's Indian Premier League victory celebrations on June 4. Last month, a committee tasked by the state government to investigate the stampede deemed the Chinnaswamy "unsafe" for large-scale events. On Monday, at an International Cricket Council (ICC) event in Mumbai to mark 50 days countdown to the women's World Cup, it was business as usual as Bengaluru was counted among the four Indian host venues....
