Kolkata, June 30 -- The Kolkata Police has recovered security camera footage of the alleged gang rape of a 24-year-old student by three men at a government-run law college in Kolkata, officials aware of the matter said on Sunday.
Giving details of the footage recovered by police, an officer requesting anonymity, said, "This [footage] corroborates the statement the survivor, a first-year student of the college, made in her police complaint."
The officer said the woman was raped in the security guard's room on the ground floor of the college campus. "The bedsheet (used in the crime) has been found and sent for forensic test," the officer said.
The 24-year-old student of South Calcutta Law College was allegedly gang-raped on June 25 by three men. A day later, Monojit Mishra, an alumnus who is a non-teaching staffer at the institution, and two students - Zaib Ahmed (19) and Pramit Mukherjee (20) - were arrested on Thursday on the basis of the victim's complaint.
A security guard at the college, identified as Pinaki Banerjee, was arrested on Saturday. "Banerjee, who worked on a contractual basis, claimed during interrogation that Mishra was in complete control of the guard's room and security guards had to sleep outside at night," a second officer said, also declining to be named....
