Mumbai, June 8 -- Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde came to the aid of a woman in urgent need of a kidney transplant after she missed her flight from Jalgaon to Mumbai on Friday night. The woman, Sheetal Borade, was on her way to Mumbai for a scheduled transplant when she arrived late at Jalgaon airport and found her commercial flight had departed.
Coincidentally, Shinde, who had attended the Sant Muktabai Palkhi ceremony in Muktainagar, was also at the airport. His chartered flight was delayed due to the pilot falling ill.
Local activists alerted state minister Girish Mahajan, who contacted Shinde for help. Without hesitation, Shinde took Borade and her husband aboard his flight.
During the journey, Shinde spoke to Borade about her condition and ensured a special ambulance and hospital admission on arrival in Mumbai. Ministers Mahajan and Gulabrao Patil praised the gesture, calling it an example of public service and empathy.
However, Borade's surgery could not proceed as her medical reports did not match the donor's.
Despite this, officials noted she reached Hinduja Hospital in time, thanks to Shinde's timely assistance. htc...
