Kalyan, June 13 -- The Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) has at last set up full-time control rooms for its disaster management cell at its two headquarters and five ward offices.
Earlier, the staff working with the cell worked in makeshift rooms with limited hotlines servicing several areas. "This time, we have planned and set up 24x7 control rooms, each with their own hotline," said Sapna Koli, who is in charge of the KDMC disaster management cell.
The seven disaster management control rooms, which cost Rs8 lakh to set up, are located at the civic body's headquarters at Shivaji Chowk in Kalyan and Indira Gandhi Chowk in Dombivli, and in five other ward offices.
