Kalyan, June 13 -- Two days after the deadline ended for cleaning nullahs in Kalyan and Dombivli, the civic body is yet to complete the work.

On Wednesday, most nullahs in the area still had waste floating on them besides having silt deposited on their banks.

"We have completed 90% of the work and are focusing on removing the silt accumulated beside the nullahs," said Baban Baraf, the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation's (KDMC's) in-charge of nullah cleaning. "We cannot transport the silt immediately as they are wet. We have to wait for them to dry."

The KDMC, which started cleaning nullahs from May 15, had set a June 10 deadline to complete this work.
