Joshna, Veer in semis
Mumbai, Dec. 21 -- Joshna Chinappa cruised into the semi-final of the 80th CCI Western India squash tournament on Saturday with a 11-4, 11-3, 11-5 win over Reiva Nimalkar, while second seed Sanya Vats was made to work for her 11-6, 10-12, 11-3, 11-5 win over Pooja Arthi R in the women's singles section.
In the men's draw, top-seed Veer Chotrani was stretched by Mahesh Mangaonkar but made it to the semi-final in with a 11-9, 11-9, 12-10 win. Second seed Suraj Chand was clinical in his match, as he beat Purav Rambhia 11-3, 11-5, 11-1.
Top seed Aditya Padwal is through to the quarter-final of the Yonex-Sunrise Gautam Thakkar Memorial Junior State Badminton Championship, held at the Bombay Gymkhana, after his 15-6, 13-15, 15-10 win over Kanak Joshi in the boys U-15 draw on Saturday.
In another match, Aditya Sarvade rallied to beat Jash Mehta 11-15, 15-11, 15-4 and enter the last eight.
In the girls U-15 section, top seed Anvisha Ghorpade beat Spruha Joshi 15-8, 16-14 after a tightly contested second game.
Meanwhile, second seed Ridhima Mhatre triumphed 15-7, 15-4 over Darshana Mali....
