Mumbai, Nov. 14 -- An abandoned, injured horse was rescued on Monday in Palghar after it was discovered lying helpless on Edwan beach for two days. The animal is currently undergoing treatment at the Bombay Veterinary College Hospital, Parel.

Prashant Mankar, a local from Palghar, claimed the horse was sitting on Edwan beach for the past two days because it was too weak to move.

"It had a severe tetanus infection and there were wounds near the tail region due to abrasions caused by the leather belt tied to fit the saddle. It may have been used for joyrides on the beach," said Vaishali Chauhan, volunteer, Resqink Association for Wildlife Welfare (RAWW), Mumbai.
