India T20 captain Suryakumar back to batting in the nets after hernia surgery
Mumbai, Aug. 9 -- In what comes as a boost to the Indian T20 set-up just a month before the Asia Cup, skipper Suryakumar Yadav shared a video of him batting in the nets on Friday after being sidelined for over a month.
Soon after the 2025 Indian Premier League season, Suryakumar underwent surgery for sports hernia in Munich in late June. For the first time since that surgery, the Indian T20 captain shared a video of him batting in the nets at the Board of Control for Cricket in India's Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.
Suryakumar captioned the video saying, "Can't wait to be back doing what I love".
Suryakumar back to batting should be good news for the world T20 champions, who are yet to announce their squad for the continental event that starts on September 9 in the UAE. Not only is the Mumbai player the captain of the young T20 side, he is also a fine batter at the peak of his prowess in the shortest format of the game.
Suryakumar was at the heart of Mumbai Indians' creditable turnaround in the 2025 IPL that saw them shake off a poor start and storm into the qualifiers.
Playing under Hardik Pandya's captaincy in the league, Suryakumar notched up 717 runs in 16 matches at an average of 65.18 and a strike rate touching almost 168....
