Mumbai, Nov. 11 -- A precautionary alert has been issued for Mumbai after a blast ripped through a vehicle near the Red Fort in Delhi on Monday evening, killing at least eight people and injuring several others. Following the incident, the Mumbai Police intensified security across the city, particularly in major crowded public places, including the Gateway of India, five-star hotels, major religious sites and transport hubs. The coastal police have stepped up surveillance at various landing points along the Arabian Sea. "Dog squads and police teams have been deployed for naka bandi and random baggage checks at sensitive locations. Unattended bags or suspicious objects are being checked," said a senior police officer. The Anti-Terrorism Cells (ATCs) have been directed to conduct surprise checks at hotels and lodges to trace any suspicious individuals. "While there is no specific threat input, the alert is purely precautionary to ensure public safety," the officer added....
