HC allows woman to end 36-week pregnancy
MUMBAI, March 16 -- The Bombay high court on Tuesday allowed a 26-year-old Kandivali resident to terminate her 36-week pregnancy at a private hospital of her choice and permitted doctors to stop the foetal heartbeat to ensure the foetus was not born alive. The division bench of justice Revati Mohite Dere and justice Dr Neela Gokhale passed the order with reference to recent guidelines issued by the Centre with regards to medical termination of pregnancies of 20 weeks or longer, making it the first such case in the state....
