GUWAHATI, June 18 -- The Gauhati High Court on Monday ordered the immediate release of a person who was allegedly illegally detained as part of a government drive against illegal immigrants and their 'push back' to Bangladesh. The order came on a petition filed by Mozida Begum against the detention of her son Hasinur. The court ordered the in-charge of the holding centre at the 7th Assam Police Battalion at Charaikhola in Korajhar district to release Hasinur, under detention since May 25, immediately. The court also ordered the state home department to file a compliance report on June 20.
