Mumbai, July 5 -- In his 74-minute-long address to the state assembly after his government won the trust vote with a thumping majority, chief minister Eknath Shinde cleared the air on the events of the past fortnight that saw a dissolution of the Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition government and the return of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to power in the state Shinde's Sena faction. The newly-appointed CM, who now leads a group of 39 Sena legislators, and has staked claim over the party, explained why his revolt was not a betrayal and why the BJP is a "natural ally".
