Kanpur, Oct. 2 -- A final-year B Tech student of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur was found dead in his hostel room on Wednesday, with police suspecting it to be a case of suicide, making it the second such incident in the premier institution this year. The 22-year-old student from Mahendragarh in Haryana was pursuing a degree in electrical engineering, police said, adding the body was found in a decomposing state on Wednesday. "Prima facie, the body appears to be two days old. The student was last seen on September 28," Kalyanpur assistant commissioner of police Ranjit Kumar said. The body was sent for the post-mortem examination and the student's family has been informed. IIT Kanpur, in a statement, expressed grief, saying the deceased was a promising student .
