FDA clears Watermelon, forensic report still awaited
MUMBAI, May 2 -- The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has let the watermelon off the hook, the only "suspect" in the death of the Dokadia family from Pydhonie, so far. The agency says it has completed its analysis of samples of edibles taken from the Dokadias' home, where they dined with relatives the night before.

Hours later, they took ill and died in hospital on Sunday, leading to much speculation over what could have killed the family of four.
FDA commissioner Sridhar Dube Patil said the agency tested watermelon peel from the Dokadia home as well as the biryani they had eaten with their guests.
None of the food samples were found to contain harmful bacteria or anything that raised red flags.
The presence of poison, if any, falls under the purview of the state forensic laboratory, not the FDA, officials said. The forensic results are awaited....
