India, March 18 -- Bharatiya Janata Party MP Samik Bhattacharya on Monday urged the government to ensure the safe return of Bangladeshi novelist Taslima Nasrin to Kolkata, which was her home for many years before she was forcefully expelled. Raising the matter during the Zero Hour in the Rajya Sabha, the BJP member said Nasrin wrote "Lajja" about atrocities against the Hindu minorities in Bangladesh, and the situation prevailing there compelled her to leave Bangladesh in 1994. "Taslima Nasrin wants to come back to Kolkata. This is like a city of life to her. She wants to compose her works in Bengali," he said.
