Mumbai, Feb. 17 -- Train services on the Harbour line were briefly affected on Monday afternoon after an intoxicated man was found sleeping on the railway tracks at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), leading the motorman of an incoming local to apply emergency brakes. The incident occurred at around 3.30pm on Platform 1, when the motorman of a Vashi-CSMT train noticed a man lying on the tracks, covered with a white plastic sheet. He immediately honked and applied emergency brakes, alerting Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel and other railway staff. "Soon after, on-duty Sub-Inspector Vivek and Constable Rajesh Chitte attended the spot and found that a scrap bottle picker had stepped down onto the railway track and was lying or sleeping, causing the local train to halt," said a CR official. The man was taken to the RPF police station for interrogation where he identified himself as Avinash Prakash Karadile, 18. He said that he was living on the footpath near the BEST bus station at CSMT. A case has been registered against him under Section 147 of the Railway Act. Officials said the train was not detained further and there was no significant delay as the incident occurred during non-peak hours....
