Navi Mumbai, Oct. 13 -- Four days after being attacked by a gang over an old dispute, a 23-year-old man, Kishor Vark, succumbed to his injuries on Sunday. The incident sparked protests outside the hospital, demanding action against the accused, prompting the police to deploy force to maintain law and order. Five of the accused have been arrested while search is on for the other three on the run. According to the police, the incident occurred on Wednesday night when one of the accused, Vicky Patil, called Ashutosh Mohan Dhurve and his friends Kishor Vark and Vicky Kamble to his house in Turbhe's Sector-21, to settle an old dispute. "Once they reached the spot, Patil and his gang allegedly attacked the three friends with a cricket bat, fiber rod, stones, and cement bricks," said senior inspector Ajay Shinde of APMC police. While Dhurve suffered a fracture in his left forearm, Vark sustained severe head injuries and Kamble suffered injuries to his ribs and hands. Following this, they were admitted to MGM Hospital in Vashi for treatment, he added. "Vark succumbed to his injuries on Sunday at 12 pm while undergoing treatment, after which we have arrested five of the accused and are on the lookout for the remaining," Shinde said. Following the incident, the victims' relatives gathered outside the hospital and demanded action against the accused, prompting heavy police deployment to maintain order. Based on Dhurve's complaint, the police registered a case against Vicky Patil, Sanket Lad alias Ladu, Omkar Waghmare alias Ganya, Vighnesh Gharat, Shakeel, Maula, Charushila (Patil's wife), and three unidentified men under Sections 109 (attempt to murder), 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 117(4) (grievous hurt), 118(1 and 2) (voluntarily causing hurt with dangerous means) , 189(2), 190 and 191(2) for unlawful assembly, 324(4) (crime of mischief), 351(2) (criminal intimidation), 352 (intentional insult with the intent to provoke a breach of peace) and 3(5) (common intention)....
