Cong calls visit 'grave insult' to state's people
New Delhi, Sept. 14 -- The Opposition Congress on Saturday launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to ethnic strife-torn Manipur, describing it as a "three-hour pit stop" and "shockingly insensitive".
Calling the visit a "farce, tokenism, and a grave insult to wounded people", Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said in a post on X: "864 days of violence, nearly 300 lives have been lost, 67,000 people displaced, and more than 1,500 injured...You made 46 foreign trips since, but not a single visit to share two words of sympathy with your own citizens."
Congress general secretary and Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra echoed similar views and said: "It is very unfortunate that he allowed the situation to continue for so long, resulting in so many deaths." P8...
