MUMBAI, Dec. 7 -- A 20-year-old college student died after she was run over by a cement mixer truck in Jogeshwari on Friday. The police said the young woman was riding pillion when the rider tried to overtake a truck from the left. The Amboli police have identified the deceased as Najneen Khan, 20, an intern at the Infiniti Mall in Malad. The police have registered an FIR under relevant sections of the BNS based on a complaint by Mohammad Hafiz Tanvar, 35, a friend of the victim. Tanvar, who also works at the Infiniti Mall in Malad said he has known Khan since February 2024. On Friday night, the duo were heading back home, with Tanvar riding the scooter and Khan as his pillion. A police officer said, "As Tanvar attempted to overtake a truck in front of them from the left, the truck hit their vehicle." Both of them fell, and the young woman was crushed under the rear wheel of the truck. She was declared dead at the Cooper Hospital.
