India, May 8 -- A t 4pm on Wednesday, a siren pierced through heavy rain at Cross Maidan in Mumbai followed by a simulated bombardment on a four-storey building. Simultaneously, the wail of sirens cut through the air across 55 locations in Delhi, echoing a call to action. The exercise, part of a nationwide drill simulating hostile scenarios, was also carried out across over 300 civil defence districts in states and UTs.
