Navi Mumbai, May 16 -- In the wake of a recent fire at a high-rise in Mahavir Plaza, Airoli, the City and Industrial Development Corporation (Cidco) has ordered a fire audit of all the housing societies under the Panvel City Municipal Corporation (PCMC).
Though no one was hurt in the fire at Mahavir Plaza, the civic body had pointed at the need for housing societies to strictly comply with fire safety norms.
Arvind Mandke, chief fire officer, Cidco, said, "Housing societies should maintain fire-fighting equipment and conduct regular drills. I have asked fire officials to check for societies' fire preparedness and conduct an audit."
