Chandigarh, Dec. 26 -- The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a charge sheet before a Mohali court in connection with the March 13 assault on an army officer and his son in Patiala. Colonel Pushpinder Singh Bath and his 21-year-old son Angad were allegedly assaulted by police personnel over a parking dispute outside a roadside eatery (dhaba) near Government Rajindra Hospital in Patiala on March 13. The colonel, in his complaint, alleged that the cops in civvies asked him to move his car, as they had to park theirs. When the colonel objected to their rude tone, the officers thrashed him and his son. According to officials, CBI has filed a charge sheet against five Punjab police personnel -Harjinder Singh Dhillon, Shaminder Singh, Harry Boparai, Ronnie Singh and Jai Singh. According to the charge sheet, inspector Ronnie Singh is the main accused in the case. Though no 'attempt to murder' charge has been included in the charge sheet, the prosecution has pressed grievous hurt and wrongful restraint charges among others against the 4 cops. CBI had re-registered two FIRs filed by the Civil Lines police station, Patiala, as its own separate cases on the orders of the Punjab and Haryana high court. Punjab Police inspectors Ronnie Singh, Harjinder Singh and Harry Boparai and sub-inspector Surjeet Singh and constable Rajvir Singh have been booked under relevant sections of the BNS....
