Mumbai, Sept. 4 -- The state cabinet on Wednesday gave administrative approval to several infrastructure projects, many of them aimed at bringing relief to commuters in cities such as Mumbai, Thane, Pune and Nagpur. Among the major projects cleared are the Wadala-Gateway of India Metro-11, an elevated road connecting Thane to the new airport in Navi Mumbai and a 29-km-long ring metro in Thane city. Also cleared by the cabinet on Tuesday were the expansion of rail lines in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) and beyond. This includes the Panvel-Vasai, Asangaon-Kasara and Badlapur-Karjat corridors, at a cost of around Rs.15,000 crore.
